The Melbourne School of Engineering have approved the request for 40-air pollution detectors: Airbeams. These devices record a range of small particulates (PM1, PM2.5 and PM10). The data for these devices provides a near real-time view of pollution that is occurring compared to the more static data collection systems from organisations such as the Environmental Protection Agency. This is used for a range of big data analytics scenarios on the Cloud as well as in work with cancer doctors and environmental scientists.
